biBERK (Berkshire Hathaway)

Commercial insurance underwriting

biBERK wanted to modernize operations on software that fit how it actually works instead of an off-the-shelf tool. I led pre-sales and design: the story that won the engagement, an onsite requirements workshop, personas, and a clickable prototype.

Constraints

  • Innovate with limited resources
  • Brand consistency with the parent organization
  • A complete rethink of day-to-day operations
  • Change management across the business

Winning the deal

The company's culture had been shaped by ownership under, and departure from, two distinct parents, which left it a set of legacy systems and a budget to replace them. I told the story of how rethinking the underwriting workflow could differentiate them in a competitive market, drawing on insurance, UX, and engineering experience to architect a solution the client signed off on. Deliverables were low-fidelity prototypes, solution architecture diagrams, presentations, and the onsite workshop.
