A touch-screen pump panel for firefighters. It works with thick gloves, reads from across the truck bay and feels familiar to crews trained on physical knobs and levers.

The stakes
A firefighter reads this panel during a fire. I tested every state under the conditions it would be used in.
Constraints
- A custom hardware platform with its own design limits
- Usable with thick fireproof gloves
- Readable at a distance
- A look that appeals to the firefighter
Gloves
There is plenty of research on ideal touch target sizes. None of it accounts for fireproof gloves. I designed the interface to respond reliably in the worst conditions, then tested it that way.
Familiar controls
Firefighters train on knobs, buttons, switches and levers. Skeuomorphic controls carried that training onto the screen. A new concept did not cost a crew its muscle memory.

I redesigned deployments into one filterable view of every roaming client and site an MSP manages. MSP power users had been managing dozens or hundreds of client organizations by hopping between dashboards. Drilling down never loses context.

Patient financing
Patients who would have been declined now have options. I designed one guided application that runs a waterfall of lenders behind it. In-practice approval rates rose from 60% to 99%. Lender options grew from 3 to 20.
