Policy management

The problem

• New admins struggled to create, apply, and manage a policy
• The policy UI no longer matched the rest of the product
• Partners managing hundreds or thousands of clients hit scaling limits in the interface

The approach

I redesigned policy management from user interviews, support tickets and workshops with customer-facing teams. An admin blocks or allows a whole category in one click. Custom lists hold thousands of domains. Policies run on a schedule, by time of day or week, and apply to users, groups or sites. Block pages carry the admin's brand. Saving became manual.

Outcome

• Less time on task for creating and managing policies
• Higher adoption of advanced policy features
• Fewer errors after the move to a manual save
• Groundwork laid for layered policies
