Policy management

Policy management is a red route: every admin touches it. I redesigned it to align with the design system and remove the friction customer feedback kept surfacing, from category blocking to allow and block lists to scheduling.

The problem

  • Creating, applying, and managing policies was cumbersome, especially for new admins
  • The policy UI had drifted from the broader design language as the product grew
  • Partners managing hundreds or thousands of clients hit scaling limits in the interface

The approach

User interviews, support ticket analysis, and workshops with customer-facing teams shaped a full overhaul. Admins can now block or allow whole categories with one click, build custom lists with thousands of domains, schedule policies by time of day or week, brand their block pages, and apply policies precisely to users, groups, or sites.

Outcome

  • Less time on task for creating and managing policies
  • Higher adoption of advanced policy features
  • Fewer errors after moving to a manual save flow
  • Groundwork laid for layered policies
